THE Wellington Sotilh nml Palmerslon X. I)y-e!eetions are taking plaee 10-day. The <-;in( !ida los for Welling!(Hi Soulh :u'(“ Messrs Castle {lndependeni), Eros! (National Government), iiiid Semple (Labour). The candidates Cor Palmerslon are; Messrs J, A. Xash (Xalionul Government), Crabb (liutepemlent), Galbraith (Labour), and Buehanun (Reform). The Wellington Soulh seal was represented by a Labour member in I he person of ihc late Mr llindmarsh, and l!ie Xational Government is not represented by an oilh-ial eandidale. The general opinion is that 'Mr Semple, who represents extreme Labour, will win by a large majority. The Palmerston election will prove an exciting contest between Messrs Xash and Crabb.' It is ■ expected that Mr Xash veifl be first past the post, but will imt secure an absolute majority ol' votes recorded. Mr Galbraith, who has been assisted by the full .strength of the Labour leaders, will not he far behind the two first mentioned, Air Buchanan will lie fortunate if he succeeds in saving ids deposit.
