BARTON’S CIRCUS.
TO-MORROW NIGHT. Barton’s Circus, which appears in Foxlon to-morrow night, should he greeted with a full tent. Referring to a recent performance in Greymouth, [lie Greymoulh Evening Star says;— “There was a full house at the first performance of Barton’s Circus last night. Long before the door opened people were crowding round tiie entrance wailing admittance. The show opened with an exhibition by the Flying-Lees. Several daring acts were done on swinging and stationary trapezes, and kept the hearts of the audience iii their mouths. A “Cowboy Bevel,” by six of the company, wys much appreciated, the horses showing great intelligence in forming the iigures. Beiihamo showed marvellous skill in bis wonderful leg and arm balancing feats. Little Toa Fredo, the elastic marvel, brought forth exclamations of consternation'and delight from the onlookers, who wore much taken abaci; at the contortions created. This little fellow could twist his body into any imaginable shape. The two Deans gave a line exhibition of light-wire walking and fancy movements. Do Car, king of comedians-, in his famous tumbling acts, created much amusement. The upside-down man did some very clever acts, turning somersaults at lightning speed. Marguerite, the fancy horse-rider, in her wonderful riding acts, was much enjoyed, a special feature of tin's performance being the ride over blazing poles. The star show of the evening was that given by the Fredo Boys, the tumbling violinists. They gave a. splendid show of aerobatic feats, and all the while their violins could he hoard playing without a break. The “Button Bursting Bounders’* gave a comic display of aerobatic work on the horizontal bars, which was well worth seeing, and brought yells of laughter from the audience. Miss. Alice Dean, in her display of unthreading tangled hoops and balancing, showed great skill. The Chinese Pilgrims, in their tumbling acts, went through various evolutions which highly amused all present. Silver King, the performing horse, gave a display of great intelligence. The Ladderites, consisting of seven members of the company, gave a splendid tableau display with two ladders. The management are to be congratulated upon the excellent show, and for their enterprise in making so many improvements in their show. The large new tent has plenty of seating accommodation, and all who go can be certain of a most enjoyable
evening.”
