THE NEW SCHOOL.
The following letter was received fz'om the Board Secretary re the new school this morning:— “I have to advise you that the application for a grant for tho erection of the proposed new school, at Foxton was yesterday forwarded to the Education Department. I have sent Mr Fpaser a copy of the plan, and he will no doubt plMee it before vour Committee.
“You will notice that fireplaces are not shown on the plan. Tho Department has been asked to provide (he funds to enable a steam radiator heating system lo be installed, and for a slate roof. Cupboard accommodation, although not shown on the plan, will he provided in each room.
“As it has Leon ascertained that (he Department will not approve of a plan which includes an assembly hall, an endeavour has been made to provide a roomy corridor. The portion marked “infants’ corridor” measures 351'!. x 20ft, All windows are of Hie steel sliding easement type. The two class-rooms on the western end can bo thrown into one room by means of sliding doors. “It is proposed to carry out (he work with the Board’s staff. All materials will be of the best, and a good job is assured. Tho Department has been asked not to delay consideration of the plan.”
