For the triumph of Right over Might, for the ascendancy of the Spiritual over the material, for the help of God in allaying the forces of evil, it is our duty to lender our humble homage. To those who travelled distance and braved danger and death for us, to those mho stood between us and the onslaughts of a ruthless and powerful enemy, it is our pleasure to-day to pay the tribute of our respect. To those who heroically fell in a noble cause and to-day lie benealh a foreign soil, solemn duly approves lo us the honoured privilege of lovingly perpetuating their memory in a suitable and enduring form. CSX proposed Anglican Cathedral to be erected on the present site of St. Mark’s Church, overlooking the Basin Reserve, Wellington, will in a fitting manner serve as a Great Thankoffering and Memorial. As such it is commended to the practical sympathy of Anglicans and the general public of the Dominion and of Wellington Diocese in particular. The site suggested, being so centrally situated, is peculiarly suitable for the proposed Cathedral. The Cathedral will be constructed in Gothic design, and will be an edifice of architectural beauty fully in keeping with the claims of the Capital City of New Zealand. The entire building and furnishings, from the minutest article to the imposing towers, will be the spontaneous gifts of a thankful people desirous of placing on permanent record their thankfulness to God and their affectionate remembrance of fallen friends. £ 150,000 will enable the main parts of the Cathedral to be proceeded with at an early date. Subscriptions can be made in the form of Govt. Stock or War Bonds. Contributions may be made immediately, and promises, if so desired, may be extended over a period of from one to five years.
