SALVATION ARMY APPEAL.
The Commissioner of the Salva j tion Army is taking steps to assist those in want of immediate relief through the epidemic. To this end the various Divisional Headquart-. ers will be used as mediums through which to dispense help. At each Divisional Centre a finance board will be established for the purpose of considering all applications for assistance; so without reference to National Headquarters, the Divisional Commanders at Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin are authorised to deal with every ease on its mertis without any delay -whatever.
It lias further been decided to come to the aid of children in distress —children whose parents are dead, incapacitated through the epidemic, or who may have been stricken themselves, and until such time as definite arrangements can be made by (he Government for such I lie Salvation Army will provide for (hem to the full measure of its capacity. It is very probable that, Billowing on tho epidemic, a number of children will need to be temporarily housed and fed, and preparation is being made to place as many as possible under the Army’s care and protection until they are again aide to fight the battle of life.
To enable the Salvation Army to meet the need, and do full justice in this hour of trial, they will be pleased to receive from those who sympathise with this effort such assistance as (hey may be pleased to give, and would remind all such that (be earlier the response (he greater the effect: of such help will be.
