Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1918. PALMERSTON BY-ELECTION.
AT the request of a large and influential dejintalion. Mr J. A. Nash, Mayor of Palmerston, has consented to contest (lie Palmerston seat aI. the .forthcoming by-election to til! the vacancy caused by the death of Mr D. Buie'k. In Mr Nash, Palmerston possesses a citizen who has. done more useful work for the town and district than any other public man during the past decade. It cannot be said of him that he is a student of political economy, he is essentially a man of action, with unbounded energy and tact. His wonderful organising ability and the splendid work he has done in assisting to combat the influenza scourge is in keeping with his other public activities. No man lias a greater claim to represent Palmerston in Parliament than “Jimmy” Nash, and we hope the electors will mark their appreciation of his good work on their behalf by returning him with a substantial majority.
