AN INVITATION.

FROM PALMERSTON TO FOCH, lIAIC AND BEATTIE. “COME AND HER OCR

SQUARE!”

(From the Palmerston Times.)

“As onr two leaders, Mr Massey and .Sir Joseph Ward, are going Home, I think wo should send them armed with an invitation to Marshal Foch, Sir Douglas Haig, and Admiral Beattie to visit New Zealand,” said CT. Broad at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council. “They have seen what these men of Anzac have done at the front, and I am sure they would be interested to see the little country from which they had come. We would make them our honoured guests.” Cr. Spooner seconded the motion, and endorsed Cr. Broad’s remarks. Cr. Bennett said that such a visit would be a red letter day for New Zealand. The resolution was carried with acclamation.
