A striking illustration of the advance in the value of pearls was afforded recently at Christie’s. A necklace of 25 pearls, which was bought in 1863 at a London jeweler’s for 110 guineas, brought £1,500. Ealing’s (Eng.) 'Education Secretary reports the case of a 15-year-old boy earning £3 10s g week as a 3%0t0r engineer.
