GOOD -REPORTS LOCALLY,

The epidemic locally may now be safely said to be dying out. Several mild eases wove reported in the borough and surrounding districts during the week-end. One ease from Moutoa was admitted to the convent school temporary hospital yesterday, .and the two remaining cases at the vicarage temporary hospital were removed to the convent temporary hospital. There are now seven males and two females in hospital, and none of the cases are serious.

The vicarage temporary hospital was closed yesterday. Since opening, it has been in charge of Miss Littlejohn, who has been assisted by Miss Nancy Ross and Mr-s LawsonBrown. There was only one death at the institution, and the patients speak in terms of praise of the devoted nursing and attention bestowed upon them by Miss Littlejohn ami tier staff.

Good reports are to hand from all local patients. There is a decided improvement in. i.h VV. Hooker’;: condition. Mrs J. Wilson, mother of the late Mrs Neville, who resided at the local seaside fo; many years, is lying ill at Mr Neville's residence at the rear of Mr Grant’s shop in Main Street. THE DEATHS IN WELLINGTON

Wellington, Dec,- f

Disorganisation in the Registrar General’s otlice makes it impossible to ascertain the vital statistics for November, as affected by the influenza. The corporation record of internments at Karori cemetery show. 709, as against 94 in October and 88 in November of the previous year. It was almost equal to the total for the ten months of the year ended October, which was 80(1. It should be noted that the total corporation internments is not necessarily an index of the inlluenza mortality, as they include deaths from other causes, but the figures are regarded as significant.
