IMPORTANT.—The public are requested to report any eases to Headquarters in the respective districts, and the best attention possible will be given. Citizens are earnestly requested to make a general clean-up of backyards by the removal of rubbish after having been thoroughly disinfected, and also to thoroughly fumigate their business premises with a strong antiseptic, and spraying disinfectants on the pavement and gutters in front of their shops every morning. Disinfectant can bo obtained at the Gas Works at 1/- per pint. The following suggestions were made at the meeting of medical men, to which public notice is urgently directed: — 1. Eveif'body feeling unwell with influenza should at once go to bed and stay there until well. This is the only way to avoid complications. 2. The breath of those with influenza is the chief source of infection. Great care should be taken to avoid this, or to mitigate it by inhalation, reasonably, of disinfectants. 3. The sick-room should be kept thoroughly neat, airy, and hygienic. Fresh air should be allowed to circulate in the room all day, and, if circumstances allow, at night also. The whole house should be laid open to the fresh air and sun each morning. 4. Light bod covering only should be used, blankets preferably. All unnecessary articles should be removed from the sick-rooms. 5. Patients should be sponged all over with warm water regularly twice a day. (i. The diet should be milk, barley water, lemonade, soda-water, taken frequently; also soup, jellies, custards, junket, light milk puddings, and oranges. 7.
