OBITUARY.
JOHN NELSON WALLS—AGED 78. Death has claimed another of' Foxtail's old residents, in (he person of Mr John Nelson Walls, who passed away at his residence, Coley Street, shortly before 2 o’clock (his morning. The late Mr Walls, who was 78 years of age, enjoyed the use of all his faculties to the last, except that his eyesight had been failing for some lime. Last evening he appeared in his usual stale of health, and evinced a keen interest in the news of the day, the daily paper being read to him by his wife before he retired to lied. Shortly before midnight he woke up and complained of pain, and despite all that could be done for him, passed away as stated above. The deceased was born in Paisley, Scotland, where he was married, Mrs Walls’ maiden name being Allen, and Paisley also being her birthplace. They came to the Dominion 49 years ago, landing at Dunedin. They came to Foxton about 40 years ago, and have resided here ever since. Last Friday was the dOth auniverary of their wedding. The deeased is survived by a widow, four sons, John (Foxton), Hugh (Wellington), George and Fred (Foxton), three daughters, .Mrs Thompson (Morrinsville), Mrs M. E. Perreau, and Mrs A. Wishart (Foxton), 25 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon, leaving the residence, Coley Street, at 2.30 o’clock, * MIL G. D. MAY. Advice was received last night that Mr 6. D. May, the well-known local business man. had passed away in the hospital at Palmerston North. The deceased had been in very indifferent health for some time past, suffering from heart trouble. He was taken to Palmerston Hospital a few days ago. He is survived by a widow, three sons, and two daughters, to whom, in common with the citizens of this district, we extend our sympathy. DAVID BUICK, M.P. Mr David Buick, M.P., died in Wellington last night. The late Mr Buick, wlio was 70 years of age, was one of the early settlers, arriving in this district over 30 years ago, and taking up land in Kairanga. Mr Buick had been Palmerston’s representative in Parliament for the past 10 years, and ha was in W ellington attending the session when he contracted influenza and died from complications ensuing thyreou.
