THE GAS WORKS.

OCTOBER WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the month of October was 479.800 ft., which, with the amount in holder on October Ist, 15,000 ft., made a total of 494,800 ft. The amount sold to consumers for lighting was 175,800 ft., for cooking and heating- 107,200 ft., and for power 72.800 ft., 19,900 ft. was used in (he street lamps, 15,000 ft. at the works and manager’s house, and there was 15,000 ft. in the holder on November Ist, leaving 29,100 ft., representing six per cent, of the output, unaccounted for. Forty-three tons of -coal was carbonised, yielding 11,140 ft. per ton. MANAGER’S REPORT. The manager’s report, as follows, was read and adopted at lust night’s Council meeting: —“The amount of gas manufactured for the mouth of October shows a slight decrease as against the preceding month in lighting and cooking gas, but an increase in power gas. 1 connected two small cookers and one new service. The carbonising plant is working satisfactorily.
