Henry \V. Mapp, a Commissioner of the Salvation Army in Russia, in a speech declared that the 'lsarina had a private telegraph wire from the Winter Palace'in Petrograd to Potsdam, by which she told the Raisin’ all the Allies' plans. 'When she learned of Lord Kitchener s contemplated visit to Russia, she gave the German Government the fullest details, which resulted in the sinking of the cruiser Hampshire and the death of Lord Kitchener.
