HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR IS DUE.

—May I he permitted to respectfully suggest to the local Council that it confer upon Mr John .Golder the honorary title of “bellman.” At nearly every outbreak of fire, the honour of arousing the residents by the clanging of the firebell rests with this gentleman, I am sure that no one could manipulate the hell so scientifically or with such sustained effort and energy as Mr Golder. And it is not every person who could perform the gymnastic and dangerous feat of climbing to the apex of the structure for the purpose. I challenge any one to say, under Mr Golder's manipulation of the hell, he or she was not aroused from the deepest slumber to view a local conflagration. —I am } etc., FIRE BUG.
