Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, SEPTEMB. 21, 1918. PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.

THE public meeting hold on Wednesday nighl lo criticise Ihe administration of the local Patriotic Society will, it is hoped, clear up any misunderstandings which have existed between members of the Executive and certain ol the public. The executive is elected by the public to raise lands, investigate claims for financial assistance, and generally administer the allairs and safeguard the funds of the Society. Meetings having been called time and again calling the public together to discuss matters of importance and elect officers, hut the attendance has been limited to a few, upon whose shoulders has fallen the whole burden of carrying on. There has been a little hostile criticism, not so much against the Society as against alleged offleiousness. Wednesday night’s meeting cleared the atmospjiere, and, we believe, will bring about a belter understanding between all parties concerned. The Society answered the administrative criticism to the apparent satisfaction of all, and the resolution carried at the conclusion of the meeting disclosed a unity of purpose to co-operate in promoting the aims and objects of the Society.
