AUCKLAND NEARING THE GOAL. Good progress was made by Auckland during last week in the Red Cross “Copper Trail" contest against Wellington, another 53 miles being added to the southbound trail, which is now at Otaki, 380 miles from Auckland, and 4(1 miles from Wellingtoni The week’s contribut ions lot tilled £12,0(18. The Wellington “trail” advanced a further five miles last week, mid has now reached Silverhopo, 128 miles north. The amount received at the Auckland Red Cross office lately includes £5,000 on , account from Whakattine, £5,000 on account from Te Kuiti, £6OO on account from Taumarunui, and £1,940 in city donations. The total raised by the efforts in the Auckland provincial district since the present campaign began, on June 4th, is £83,912.
