FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report to he submitted at the annual general meeting of the Foxton BoAviing Glut), to be held this evening:— “Your Committee has again pleasure in submitting for your approval a balance-sheet showing your club to be in a sound financial condition. They are pleased to state that the Club's assets now exceed the liabilities by £368, and that the overdraft at the Bank has been brought below the £IOO, as against £lll of last season. With' a few special expenses, and considering the unsettled times, your Committee think we have done well to show a net profit of £l2 for the season. It will be noted that the rates are again higher, being £5 16s Od, as against £5 4s lid last year. Owing to prompt payment of subscriptions by a number of our members the Bank interest is only £8 12s 6d, as against £0 7s Od last season, A non-re-curring item in the expenses was new lawn mover £ll 4s 3d. Turning to the green itself, the outstanding feature is the improvement to the ladies’ croquet lawn. Your Committee are pleased to announce that, owing to the energy of our lady secretary, and the willingness of our members to work on the green, (he whole improvement has been effected without a penny expense to the Club. The sum of £lB 15s Od was collected by Mrs Woods, and spent on the scheme. The Committee are sorry to state that for some time we have been without a caretaker, and they feel very grateful to Mr D. Whibley for so ably filling the breac-h for the last half of the season. With regard to the play of last season, we think it was one of the most enjoyable in the history of the Club. Starling with an almost record opening (over 100 present), we went on receiving visits from: Levin and Shannon (interclub trophy), Palmerston, Terrace End, Fcilding, Shannon, and Levin in the all-days play; Levin and Shannon several limes for trophies; Feilding brought down several strong rinks, and later in the season Otaki brought over two rinks and renewed old acquaintances vith us. We also had the pleasure of taking five full rinks to Feilding, and although losing, the players thoroughly enjoyed the outing and the games. In local games the ladder competition was productive of much enthusiasm, and bids fair to supercede any other club competition. The Nye Ferns again produced some great sporting games, with keen competition for a place in the rinks among players. Your Committee wore pleased to notice a greater amount of evening play than usual, and hope this feature will he continued. Taken all round, the season was one to look back on with great pleasure, and we hope, given the support, to make the coming season equally, or even more, successful.” The statement of receipts and expenditure shows receipts totalling £95 14s Od, made of members’ subscript ions and donations. The expenditure amounted to £B3 Ifis (id, made up as follows: —Caretaker and green attendance £35, lawn mower £ll 4s 3d, Interest £8 12s fid, refreshments £(> 4s Bd, rates £5 16s fid, telephone £5, petty cash £3 0s Id, rent £2, printing and advertising £1 17s fid, Centre levy £l, and insurance, repairs and miscellaneous £5 Is fid. The Club's assets total £533 13s 3d, and the liabilities £lO5 7s 3d, leaving a balance of assets over liabilities of £3(58 (is fid.
