LAND AGGREGATION.

THE aggregation of land is a matter that must ho guarded against and checked by the people in all possible ways. The Cheltenham Dairy Factory Company has taken the matter up, and at Us annual meeting passed the following resolution : —“That this meeting views with alarm the accumulation of land under single ownership in this and the surrounding districts, and respectfully urges on (lie National Government the necessity for taking steps to prevent the aggregation of land, which is considered inimical to the best interests of the dairying industry and the small farmers of New Zealand.” The subject was brought under the notice of: the Minister for Lands during his visit to Cheltenham this week. The Minister stated he was against aggregation. It was unfortunate that the legislation of 1 ( J13 had not given the effect desired. At the present time he had formulated some proposals on the subject, but whether (hey would bo adopted by Cabinet he could not say, as it was understood that anything of a contentious nature was to bo dropped during the war. This also applied to proposals he had formulated regarding enemy alien lands.
