GERMAN ESCAPEES.
ENJOY BRIEF LIBERTY, ■ Auckland, August 19. Three Germans attempted to escape in a motor launch which they had seized. Having impressed the services of three natives, and laid in provisions, they put to sea, it is believed, with the object of capturing a larger vessel. The engines broke down, and the party had to land at Mulifaima. The Germans wore arrested and taken to Apia for 1 rial.
