DOMINION’S POPULATION.
AGES AND RELIGIONS. FIGURES FROM 1010 CENSUS. Interesting comparisons of figures vela ling to the ages and religions of persons in the Dominion, as revealed by Die last census, taken in October, 191.(5, are given in Blue Books recently published by the Government Statistician, Mr Malcolm Fraser. The total population of New Zealand, exclusive of Maoris and the population of the annexed Pacific Islands, was then 1,099,449. The. pefeentage of sexes was: —Males, 50.19; females, 49.81. The number of persons in each ago group are as follow, the increases or decreases, as compared with the 1911 census, being shown in parentheses; —
specify their aye. The aye of the oldest person living in New Zealand was 105 —a. male. There were five males and six females aged 100, (wo males and two females 99, four males and six females 1)8, and four of each sex 97. The figures showing the number of persons belonging to the different religions are given. The following details show the totals for 1010, the increases or decreases, as compared with the 1011 census, being given in parentheses:—
Adventist 1,534 (421 ine.) Unitarian 1,402 (8(1 ine.) Protestant (undefined) 2,238 67 ine.) Rom. Catholic 149,206 (10,015 ine.} Greek Catholic 247 (18 ine.) Catholic (undefined) 2,390 (1.067 ine.) Other Christian religions 13,873 (2,636 ine.) The following figures relating to the non-Christian religions are given: —Jewish, 2,341 (213 increase): Confneian Buddhist, 1,47.1. (30 increase); Mahommedan, 47, (36 increase); other religions, 954 (305 increase). There were also 652 Agnostics, 4,446 Freethinkers, 619 Rationalists, J,295 Spiritualists, 830 Theosophists, and 5,023 of no avowed religion. Five males and one female stated that they were healh'ens, and two males and two females that they were infidels. Six males and one female stated that they belonged to the “Church for Self.” The percentage showing the proportion of persons belonging to the chief Christian creeds, in relation to the total population, is:—Anglican, 42.90; Presbyterian, 24.36; Roman Catholic, 14.17; Methodist, -9.91; Baptist, 1,95. An interesting comparative table is given, showing the progress made liy the different creeds over a period of 30 years. The.different Christian religions specified total 112, the non-Christian 16, and indefinite 56. A total of 25,577 persons objected to state their religion, this number including 9,971 women.

A total of 1,200 persons did not.
