HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A committee meeting of the above was held on Thursday evening, the president, Mr W. E. Barber, occupied the chair. A letter was read from Mr H. Mitchell (ex-president, Otaki). offering to donate two prizes of Ids (id each for sections in tin. decorative class. It was decided to convoy the Society's thanks to Mr Mitchell for his generous donation. The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr Heastua.n, thanking him for his donation of a prize for cottage garden at Summer Show. On the motion of the President, it was' decided to set up a sub-committee comprising all the ladies of the general committee to consider ways and means of running the tea-rooms in connection with the show, to the best advantage. The following judges were appointed: —Cut blooms and pot plants, fruit and vegetables, Mr A. J. Shailcr, assisted by Mr Bond; decorative, Mrs Imrie (Palmerston N.); dairy produce, cookery, and home industries, Mr F. O. Smith (Levin). The following stewards- were appointed: —Classes A, B and C, including Citizen’s Trophy, Miss Signal; Class D, Mrs McMurray; Class B, Mrs C. H. Symons and ‘Miss Symons; Classes F and G, Mr D, Whibley; Class H, Mrs Renton sind Miss O. Nye; Classes I, J and K, Mrs Harding, assisted by Miss; M. Pearson; door stewards, Messrs Bev. Harding, Henderson, K. Kenedy and Ashmore; sweets stall, left ; in hands of Secretary; amusements, My % E- Bullard.
