Darin”’ lam: season the Palmerston North Bowling Club made a profit of £57 Is 7d. Mr -1. H. Slovens lias been elected president of tbo Chib for the en.-ming year, and in thanking members fur his election, expressed surprise that the Club had not catered more for the ladies in the past, and said this year he would like to see the small green given up for their use. He thought the Club should eater more for new members. They wanted coaching, and Messrs ,1. H. Sbumouds, Aiken and J. Smith had agreed to assist in this connection. It was decided that all members who are going on active service be kept in full membership. A special vole of thanks was accorded the ladies for the maimer in which (hey had helped with the afternoon tea during the past season, and as a mark of the Cltih’s appreciation it was decided to entertain them at a social. In connection with the social, they would also have a send-off to Messrs Hodgson and Brown, who are going into camp, and a committee was setup to make all the arrangements. A “bee’ will be at work , on the local green to-morrow afternoon, commencing at 2.30 o’clock, and all members able to do «o .are asked to put in an appearance. There is a large amount of work to bo done before the green will be tit to play on, and the more assistance members give with same the earlier tinseason will be opened.
