FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
A meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held on Thursday last. Present: Mr Hennessy (chairman), Messrs Clapham, Rimmcr, Barber, and Linkhvter. RESIGNATION. Mr Robertson wrote that circumstances having arisen, he had regretfully to tender his resignation. This was accepted with regret, and the Secretary was instructed to notify Levin Borough Council for the appointment of a representative for Levin. TREASURER’S REPORT. The Treasurer reported the credit at Bank of New Zealand at £209 13s lOd, and that the Railway Department had given the net earnings for (lie year ended 31st March at £931 13s sd. THE WHARF. The Chairman reported the result of the recent deputation to the General. Manager of Railways. The different points of management were dealt wit'll, including the temporary management of the wharf, and the existing charges tor handling goods. It was agreed the Board should put its requirements in writing, and the Railway carry on as at present, or until shed accommodation could he provided. The General Manager, Mr Hiley, promised to visit Foxton later and confer with the Board on the matters of detail respecting wharf and wharf extension. ROUND BUSH. Correspondence was received from the Lands Department re Round Bush, agreeing to the valuation of that portion proposed to ho taken by arbitration. It was decided to ask for plans, and suggest that arbitrators should he persons quite outside the local authorities interested. GENERAL. Mr MeMurray as liquidator of the West Coast S. S. Co., wrote asking for an extension of lease of foreshore for lift eon years. TJiis was held over pending completion of (ho wharf purchase. Mr Sollilt's report on the Pilot’s house was received. That the timbers were sound; that it required repa poring throughout and some slight repairs to roof and windows, and later on re-painting, and in Ids opinion, with reasonable renovation from time to time, it would be quite habitable for a number of years. —lt: was decided to call tenders for rc-papcring and repairs at once, and (lie local Committee to deal with 1 hem. It was decided to accept Mr Just’s offer of trees and planting at tin* Beach, and to ask Mr Field, M.P., to endeavour to procure others from the Government. in the matter of rentals outstanding, it was deeddod that seven days’ notice he given for payment, before legal proceedings are taken, and that any tenants not complying with conditions of lease, their leases should he concelled.
