Two instances of the rapid growth of pinus insignis were mentioned at the last meeting of the Molueka Harbour Board (states the Nelson Mail). One member stated that Irecs planted at Tasman live years ago on the poorest slopes in the locality were now 30ft. high, whilst aniOjier reported that twelve-year-old pinus insignis on his own properly in Riwaka Avere a foot through at the trunk. Other instances were given of twenty-live-year-old irecs being worth £5 a-piece and over for case limber. A local body in this district recently received the following application for employment: —“Just a, few lines to yon asking if there is any show on the Council because I used to (he Avork. I married man within children. INo Good for front. I been turn down. 1 Avorking at present at the Council if there any show will you let me knoAV return mail.” Owning 30,000 acres of land in her oAvn right, irrespective of Avhat her marriage might have brought her, the Countess of Warwick admitted at a conference on land nationalisation in London that she avus heart and soul in favour of the nationalisation of the land in Britain. In the eyes of her family and friends she was, so to speak, committing social and moral harikari in belonging to the society, Lady Warwick admitted. A resolution favouring the public ownership of land, which was carried, was seconded by the Countess.
