PRISONER ESCAPES.
The prisoner, Giles, made his escape from the Palmerston gaol on Thursday evening, about (>.30 o'clock, and lias not yet been re-eap-tnred. It is not known how be effected bis escape, hut it is surmised he climbed out of the prison yard. The eseapee is 18 years of age, sft. 7£in, in height, with blue eyes, fair hair and complexion. He was dressed in a grey suit, without a, bat, but may efl’eet a ehange of clothing; the forefinger of bis right hand is deformed.
Late Thursday night Mr Boyden’s house at Himatangi was broken into, and several small articles, including a safety razor and food, wore stolen. It is believed that the theft was committed by Giles, as he was working on the farm before he committed the theft of the motor cycle and money.
