NEW POLICE DISTRICT.
TAXES IN EXTENSIVE AREA. The-now Palmerston North police* district will toko in an extensive area, extending' from tlie coast lino in the Lower Manawatu district to Pongaroa, on the East Coast, and includes no less than 17 stations, as follows: Otaki, Levin, Shannon, Eoxton, Rongotca, Bulls, Marton, Eeilding, Kinibolton, Ashhurst, Pahiatua, Pongaroa, Eketahuna, AVoodville, Wa I degrave Street (Palmerston North), Terrace End, and Palmerston North (central). Inspector MacKinnon’s appointment to his new rank took place on August Ist, when he assumed charge of the Palmerston police district.
