PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
At Thursday evening’s meeting of the local Patriotic Society executive (Mr Chryslall in the chair), it was decided to make an allowance of Cl per week for three months In (he wife of a local disabled soldier now resident in Wellington: the case to be reconsidered at the expiry of three months. In connection with the copper (rail, Mr 11. Signal kindly' offered to organise an entertainment on behalf of the funds, which was accepted with thanks. A letter of thanks was ordered to be sent to the Eoxlon Pacing Club for th(;ir generous donation of ,00(1 towards (he Copper 'frail. On behalf of the members of the executive ami the Sexton Ladies’ Patriotic Guild, the president made a presentation to Mr A. J. Kellow, late secretary, of a (ravelling rug, in recognition of the excellent services he had rendered to the Patriotic Society. The president referred in eulogistic terms to the recipient's enthusiasm, and stated that the satisfactory state of the linances was largely due to Mr Kellow’s self-sacrificing efforts. Mr Kellow suitably acknowledged the gift. Other formal business was then discussed, and the meeting rose.
