IMPERIAL PURCHASE OF DOMINION WOOL.
Mr E. Newman, M.P., addressed a meeting of the Marion Fanners’ Union on Saturday on the purchase of the Dominion’s wool my the Imperial Government. The following motion was carried unanimously: “That this branch heartily approves of tht terms upon which the Prime Min ister has arranged for the sale of New Zealand wool to the Imperial Government until one year after the conclusion of the war. It also desires to ‘ support the proposal made by Mr Edward Newman, M.P., to the effect that if the wool growers receive last year’s rates for their wool, it would be a square deal if all the profits from the sale of the surplus wool in England should be devoted to a fund for the dependents of theh rave sailors of the Royal Navy and the mercantile marine, but for whose vigilant protection during the last four years this Dominion would probably have been under a foreign flag instead of in
enjoyment of unprecedented prosperity. That this resolution be forwarded direct to the Dominion president (Sir J. G. Wilson), with a request that he will take what steps he thinks necessary to secure the support of the Avhole union to the proposal contained therein.”
