OCHARGES OF SEDITION. ■ Dunedin, Yesterday. At the Police Court to-day, Thomas Padraic Cummins and Albert James O'Ryaii were jointly charged in Dial they caused to lie published in a newspaper called the Breen Ray a seditions utterance, Avhich was seditions in Dial il was caused to be published hy defendants Avith intention to excite disaffection against Du* Government of the United Kingdom, and to encourage the commission in the United Kingdom of an offence prejudicial lo public safely in respect of the present Avar, to wit, the crime of I reason and the levying of war against His Majesty. Cummins admitted Avriting the article, but pleaded not guilty to the charge of sedition. O’ Ryan plea fled guilty to publishing, hut not to sedition, and the. case was adjourned till next Wednesday. The article Avhich formed the basis of the charge dealt with Ireland.
