THE TOWN HALT.
IMMEDIATE steps should he taken by the Borough Council or lessee to see that the auxiliary lighting is in order at the Town Hall. On Thursday night a number of the public attended a skating carnival, and something went wrong with the engine, which drives the dynamo and provides electric light for the building, with the result that the hall was in semi-darkness, and remained in this slate during the whole evening. A few single gas jets were lit, and these appeared to ho out of order. In the dress circle and on the stage there were no lights. If the Council did its duty it would cancel the license -until the auxiliary lighting- is in order. In the public interest this matter should be given immediate attention. Another point we noticed was that smoking was indulged in inside the hall, and this under the nose of the. tire inspector, who was in attendance. We hope we shall not be called upon to deal further with this matter.
