JUDGMENT SUMMONSES

L. Jenkins, who did not appear, and who tendered no excuse for absence, was ordered to pay I l ’. 'Roberts .€4 11s Od forthwith, in default seven days' imprisonment in Wel-

iingion prison. In the case J. If. Eargher v. C. O’Regan, there was no appearance of judgment debtor, and no excuse for absence, anil ho was ordered to pay ,Cfi 12s lid forthwith, in default seven days’ imprisonment in Wel-

lington prison. A. F, G. Scott proceeded against Peter Robinson on judgment summons to recover the sum of £29.6s Od. The judgment debtor was examined as to his earnings since the date of (be judgment, after hearing which the Magistrate made an order for the payment of the amount forthwith, in default 14 days’ imprisonment in Wellington prison, order lo be suspended if instalments of £3 per month are paid, the fii’st payment to be made on July 15th.

DEPENDED CASE.

Thomas Rimmer proceeded ugainst Vernon Rhodes and his wife, M. Rhodes, to recover the sum of £3O 2s 2d for goods supplied. For the plaintiff, evidence was given by George Henry Smith, manager, to the effect that the goods in question were supplied to both plaintiffs, who were at the time running the cookhouse at the Opui Mill.

The evidence of Vernon Rhodes was that his wife had the cookhouse contract, and that the business people supplied her with the goods, and that under the circumstances he was not responsible for his wife’s debts in connection with the cookhouse.

After hearing the evidence, the# Magistrate entered up judgment for plaintiff against both defendants for the amount claimed, £3O 2s 2d, with court costs £2 10s od, and solicitor £2 12s Od.'
