WATER IN GORE.
CITIZENS TAKE ACTION.
Gore, Yesterday
Citizens of every trade and calling, armed with-spades and shovels, took the law into their own hands yesterday afternoon, and proceeded to prevent the water coming through the railway culvert, damage to which was caused by the last two floods at Gore, The work was completed during the evening, and by the morning the flood water had almost disappeared from the town. A meeting was held in the afternoon to consider what steps should be taken to prevent water coming through the culvert. Up to the present the Railway Department will not permit the erection of any hank at Ihe culvert. It previously indicated that it would take forcible steps to prevent any action being taken.
