OTAKI RACING CLUB.
AN ARBITRARY DECISION,
With reference to the decision of the Otaki Maori Racing Club, under Rule 111., Part 16, not to accept any nomination of horses trained or owned by W. H, Bowden in future (says the Post), it should be stated in fairness to Bowden, who is a resident of Otaki, and trains his horses there, that the decision was not arrived at as the result of any malpractice, The trouble arose between Bowden and the caretaker of the course as to tile latter’s authority to refuse Bowden entry to the course for training purposes on a day nearing the meeting. It may be mentioned that the racing rule referred to above reads as under:— “The stewards or committee mav, with or without reason assigned, refuse any entry.” Mr Bowden informs us that he will not allow the matter to rest, but that he will light it out, as he considers he has been unfairly treated.
