BEACH IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.

STATEMENT OF RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE.

We have received the following statement of receipts and expenditure for publication from the Beach Improvement Committee: — Receipts. —Donations by individuals, £34 13s 6d; Beach concert, 1917, £5; balance Jetty Fund, £l2 13s lOd; Foxton Borough Council, £5; Foxton Harbour Board, £2O; Beach sports, Ist January, 1918, £lO Qs Id; Mrs Grant’s Funds, £4; Bank interest, Is 9d; total receipts, £9l 18s 2d.

Expenditure.—Trees, £3; timber, £36 14s 4d; paint and sigmvriting, £3 9s 9d; tar, four barrels (unused), £3 ss; printing and stationery, £1 8s 6d; ironmongery, £5 16s 6d; stamps, 16s lid; cartage, £1; clay, 12s; small accounts (grouped), £1 18s 3d; cash in Post Office, £33 16s lid; making a balance of £9l 18s 2d.

The above only represents the actual cash received and expended, and does not include Mr Just’s gift of trees and shrubs to the value of £ls, freight paid to the Beach, many other donations of material, discounts, cartage, posts and blocks obtained on the spot, and labour. The latter alone Avould have cost the Committee at least £25. The balance in hand is for the purpose of putting down a concrete road through the cutting leading on to tint river foreshore.

A meeting of Beach householders Avill be held in Palmerston on Monday evening to discuss matters of importance, including the recent, valuations. A list of the old ami neAv valuations will bo submitted, Avhich will prove very interesting. Combined action Avill bo taken, and objections lodged. The Beach road requires immediate atientilmi, and also steps Avill be taken to urge Ibis matter upon the ManaAVatn County Council. Urgent necessity obtains for a road to lie. formed giving aeeess to the sanitorium.
