Ritleman A. 11. Yales, writing under date April sth, from Oat lands Park Section, Weybridge, Surrey, England, sends a very interesting souvenir letter-card of Wallon-on-Thames, including photos, of the N.Z. Hospital. Rifleman Yates says he is. n working -patient at the M.C.A., and classified every month. He concludes with best wishes to all.
Sergeant B. H. Dalhousie, who has returned to New Zealand after two and a-half years service in France, was in, Palmerston on Thursday. He is.looking fit and well. Sgt. Dalhousie has hopes of securing the position of Crown Lands County Ranger for tho Taranaki district, and if successful will reside in New Plymouth. The promoters of the euchre party held in the Moutoa School on Friday last are to he congratulated on the very excellent result achieved. The gross takings were £ls 15s, 3d to date. 1 Some tickets are still to be accounted for, so it will possibly realise more. Something like SO people were present, 00 takingpart in the euchre. The prizes were won by the following:—Ladies, Mrs Stan. Pearce (picture); gent’s, Mr Delf. Bowc (silver ash tray), and the consolation prizes were won by Mrs R. J. Mohekey and Mr H. j. Shaw. The cake donated by Mr M. Perreau for a competition proved very satisfactory, realising £2 17s 6d in guesses, and won by Mr J. Murdock, with number 23, and afterwards sold for Bs. A tin of biscuits donated by Mr G. Mohekey also realised £2 in guesses, and was won by Mr C. Morgan, with number 31, and resold for 7s. Miss Helen Pigott raised 10s 0d by the sale of bouquets.’ The attache case presented by Mr C. Morgan for the hoy or girl selling most tickets was
won by Mavis Shaw, who re-sold it: and realised £1 Bs. The proceeds are to help the funds of the Foxton Patriotic Society. , It was decided at a well attended and representative meeting held in the school house on May 21st —when a,strong committee was set up —to raise money from time to time, and so add our quota. The committee wish to specially thank all those who contributed gifts and helped in any way to make this first effort such a success.
