GENERAL WAR NEWS.
HOSPITAL SHIP MYSTERY;
The body of one of the junior officers of the hospital ship Gle'nart Castle, which was torpedoed in the Bristol Channel on February 26th by a German submarine, has been picked up not far distant from the spot at which the vessel was sunk. On examination, the body was found to have sustained gunshot wounds, one in the neck and the other in the thigh. While there have been no reports that the Germans fired on the escaping crew of the hospital ship at the moment of the outrage, this discovery suggests that an attack was subsequently made on some of the boats. THE RUSSIAN FLESHPOTS. A communique recently gave the Germans the following comfort: — “The farther our troops advance into Russia the richer the enormous treasures of grain and food turn out to be. Even tea, coffee, and sugar are plentiful. Only the towns arc suffering from lack of transportation facilities. Once order is restored there will be food enough not only for the population, but for export.” FRENCH LAND ARMY. in order to provide workers for the laud the French Government has decided to mobilise all males in France between the ages of 15 and 50 who are not engaged in a profession useful to the country.
