BIRTHDAY HONOURS.
THOUSANDS OF NAAIES GAZETTED. AIOSTLY FOR WAR SERVICES. London, June 2. The Gazette contains thousands of honours, mostly military, on the occasion of the King’s Birthday. Lord Rhondda has been created a viscount. ■Three barons are created, including Air George D. Faber, M.P. for Clapham' (brother to Lord Faber). Seven Privy Councillors include the leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party (Air W. Adamson) and Parliamentary Secretary to the Food Controller (Air J. R. Clynes).
Fourteen baronetcies include Air J. G. Butcher, ALP,, Air R. L. Harmsworth, AI.P., and Air Guy Calthorp (State Controller of Coal Mines). Knighthoods include Air Alfred Butt, theatrical manager; Mr John Alerry Le Sage, editor of the Daily Telegraph; Mr Jeans, editor of the Liverpool Post. There are hundreds of recipients in the various classes of the Order of the Bath, Order of St. Alichael, and Order of-the Indian Empire, and thousands who receive the D. 5.0., Military Cross, or Alilitary Aledal for services in France, Egypt and Salonika. The Grand Cross of St. Alichael and St. George (G.C.AI.G.) is awarded to Sir G. E. Poster, K.C.AI.G., Canadian Alinister for Ti’ade and Commerce, and Air Ci’osby Phillips, AI.P. A number of Australians have also been honoured. NEW ZEALAND LIST. , London, June 2. Lieutenant-Colonel 11. E. Hart and Colonel C. W. Alelville, New Zealand, have been made Companions of St. Alichael and St. George for sexwiccs in Fx’aucc and Flanders. Licut.-Colonel H. E. Hart left as second in command of the Wellington Infantry Regiment, Alain Body. He was mentioned in dispatches twice in 1915, and was awarded the D.S.O. On Max’ch 15th, 1917, he was appointed temporary brigadiergeneral, with the command of a new brigade. Prior to the war he was an officer of the 17th (Rnahinc) Regiment. He saw service .in the South African war, in the Transvaal in 1902, and was awarded the King’s Aledal with two clasps.
Lieutenant-Colonel C. AV. Alelville is an officer of the New Zealand Staff Corps, and a graduate of the Staff College, He was awarded the D.S.O. in 1910.
