SCHOOL AT MAROTIRI.
STILL ANOTHER INSPECTION OP SITES.
The settlers of Marotiri have been agitating for the past three years for the erection of a school in that locality. Meetings have been held of settlers interested, and the BoarJ furnished with particulars re number of scholars who would attend. At present the little ones have to travel either to the Moutoa or Foxton schools. The settlers are. prepared to assist the Department in the matter, and are prepared to furnish a site and contribute £SO towards the cost of erection of the school building. Yesterday the Board’s Chief Inspector, accompanied by Mr Spencer, representing the Department, and Mr Fraser, Board member, visited Marotiri and conferred with the settlers. Several sites were again inspected. It was again suggested that the children should bo conveyed to a larger school in order to benefit by more iip-to-date equipment, It Avas pointed out that the small alloAvanee granted by the Department for this purpose would not: be sufficient to provide suitable means of locomotion. Mr Strong informed the settlers that the matter Avould be again considered, and the settlers Avould be advised of the decision arrived at.
