FOXTON’S WATER SUPPLY.
LEVIN WILLING TO NEGOTIATE.
At Monday night’s meeting of the Levin Borough Council, the subject of supplying Foxton with water was discussed. The Town Clerk (Mr Gardener) said that when the matter was first mooted it was estimated by the engineer that the Levin waterworks could supply Foxton for the next 30 years without seriously touching the resources. A seriouq mistake was made by Levin in asking too much for the water. Ci? Matheson said it would pay the borough to put a proposition to Foxton, He understood that the river port had not yet settled the problem. Both there and here new councils were in office, and negotiations might be more fruitful. Mr Gardener said he thought lie had all the papers and statistics in his possession, and he was asked, if possible, to bring them to light again for the information of the Council. —Chronicle.
