AMERICA’S WOMEN DOCTORS. Women doctors of the United States are asking to go abroad, particularly to France and Servia, where children are declared to be in need of care and attention.
GERMANY’S WAR CREDITS. A Bill providing for a new vote of credit amounting to £750,000,000 was introduced in the Reichstag in March. Previous votes of credit; total £5,450,000,000, of which the amount of £3,640,000,000 was subscribed by war loans.
SERVIA’S GIFT OF A. SWORD,
An infantry sword has been presented by the Servian Ministry of War to the collection of swords of the allies at the Tower of London. It was used by Colonel St. Pavlovitchj .a kinsman of King Peter, who was killed, sword in hand, at the head of his regiment on the Salonika front. “PLEASE REFUSE MY EXEMP-[ TION.” When a farmer applied for the _ exemption of an 18-year-old boy at Lichfield tribunal, a letter was read j from the youth asking the tribunal to refuse the application. He was classed A, he said, and was anxious to join the army, being the “only young man left in the district.” The case was adjourned to enable the youth to join up as a volunteer.
BELGIAN LIEUTENANT FREE. The Criminal Appeal Court allowed! the appeal of Lieutenant Charles Aughnet, of the Belgian army, againsl his conviction for maliciously wounding a Belgian private named De Dryver, for which he was sentenced to five months’ imprisonment in the second division. The chief ground for Ihe appeal was that tho applicant bad been charged with the crime before a court-martial at Calais, and was acquitted. TRIBUTE FROM AN ENEMY.
