HARBOUR BOARD LOAN PROPOSALS.

IT-is to be hoped that every ratepayer, physically tit, will make a point of recording his or her vote on Tuesday next, at the poll to sanction the Foxton Harbour Board loan proposals for the acquisition of the wharf from the Railway Department, and to provide means for improving the port. It is unnecessary for us to stress the vital importance of carrying the loan proposals, and incidentally, as a means of showing public appreciation of the good work done by the Board in its long struggle with the Railway Derailment to acquire the wharf and revenue accruing therefrom. Wo need not touch upon the iniquity of “the past dual control of the wharf, nor the equitable finding of the Commission which made it possible for the Board to come into its own on a fair basis. The loan will enable the Board not only to compensate the Railway Department, but will provide sufficient money to purchase a dredge to improve the port and facilitate shipping. Whatj this means to Foxton and district has been fully set out lime and again. The carrying of the loan by an overwhelming majority will evidence that ratepayers are alive to the progress of the port.
