HARBOUR BOARD CHAIRMAN.
SERVICES TO BE RECOGNISED,
' At last night’s public meeting, the Mayor (Mr Chrystall) suggested that the time was opportune to in some way recognise the services of Mr Hennessy, chairman of the Foxton Harbour Board. Mr Chrystall said he knew everyone recognised that the satisfactory position in connection with the wharf was duo in a, large degree to the persistent efforts of Mr Hennessy during the past nine years, and he considered they should do something to show their appreciation of his work. At a meeting of the Borough Council some time ago he had suggested that be be presented with a suitably inscribed gold watch, but he had learned since that Mr Hennessy already possessed a 'gold watch, and he now thought the presentation should take some other form.' All present agreed that Mr Hennessy’s splendid efforts on behalf of the district should be recognised, and after discussion it was decided that Mr Hennessy be presented with an illuminated address, same to bo presented at a banquet to bo given Mr Hennessy in the Town Hall sup-per-room on Tuesday, June 11th. Messrs Chrystall, McMurray and iWhiblcy were appointed a committee to obtain the illuminated address, and the following committee was set up' to arrange all details; Messrs Chrystall, Ferreau, Parkes, E. Walker, Christie, and Hurley.
