FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD LOAN.
REPRESENTATIVE MEETING AT
PALMERSTON,
A special meeting called by the Mayor of* Palmerston was held in the Council Chambers, Palmerston, on Tuesday evening, with the object of devising means to carry the loan for the FOxton Wharf. Representatives of the Borough 1 Council, Chambers of Commerce and Kairanga County Council were present.. The position was fully explained in regard to the urgency of carrying this poll, which will be taken on the 21st inst. (Tuesday next). The point was again emphasised that the carrying of the loan proposal would not mean the levying of rates, and ratepayers would derive great benefits through increased harbour facilities ’which would result, without any added cost to them. Several representatives spoke strongly in favour of the proposal, and promised to do their utmost to arouse enthusiasm by explaining the position outside and endeavouring to bring voters to the poll.
Mr Nash stated he was circularising ratepayers in Palmerston, and hoped by this means to help the poll.
