MALTA FEVER SERUM. Professor Vincent, of Paris, whose work in connection with antityphoid vaccination is universally known, lias made a valuable discovery in connection with Mediterranean, or Malta, fever, which is transmitted to man through the milk ol goals. Applying to its microbe, the Micrococcus Meiitensis, which was isolated by Bruce, in 1887, his researches on cultures treated with ether, the professor has produced a vaccine whose curative and preventive qualities both as regards goats and men are stated to be of the highest value. “BOY’S CROWDED LIFE. The career of a boy who at 12 could neither road nor write, and was placed in a special school for backward hoys, was told by Councillor Riask at a meeting of the Brighton Education Committee. Special arrangements were being made to send out regular supplies of men to meet wastage, the requirements being 350 a year.
