It is officially announced in Washington that the Ordnance Department of the United States'Army is being reorganised, along British lines. Recent tests made of a Jirc-proof varnish for aeroplane wings arc said to have been so successful that fire-proof aircraft may be an early possibility. A young woman in Cheshire, England, has been appointed acting surveyor to a local rural council, to take the place of her brother, who is a soldier. The Marquess of Milford-Havcn, better known as Admiral Prince Louis of Baltenberg, is appointed Rede Lecturer at Cambridge for the present year.
