THE GREY SEAT.
MR. COATES CONSENTS TO STAND, Greymoutb, May 2. An informal meeting of the representatives of Labour, Reform, and Liberals took place at Reef ton today, following up the initial work done at Greymoutb to secure the return of a member to represent all classes in the Grey electorate. Delegates from the Greymoutb United Committee attended, and the names of several possible candidates were submitted. Ultimately it was resolved that the candidate chosen by the Central Committee at Greyinquth, Mr T. E. Coates, would be recommended to the united parties in Rcefton, and Mr Coates, who was present, yielded to I lie pressure brought upon him, and with the prominent support, definitely consented to allow himself to be nominated for -the seat in the interests of the community as a whole. The Town Hall was packed tonight to hear Mr Holland's opening address on behalf of Labour. The speech was mostly on the lines of his Wellington election platform. Mr Holland received a most enthusiastic receptiton, and a vote of confidence.
