PROPOSAL to raise a Special Loan under the provisions of “The Foxton Harbour Board Amendment Act, 1917” and “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1913,” upon which a poll will be taken on TUESDAY, the 21st day of May, 1918. PIIE FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD hereby gives public notice that such Board proposes to raise a Special Loan under the authority and subject to the provisions of the above-named Acts for the purposes and under the conditions following; The particular purposes for which the said special loan is required are: The payment by the Board to His [Majesty the King of: the. sum of 15,000 for the transfer of the lands and assets mentioned in Section 8 of “The Foxton Harbour Board Amendment Act, 1017,” and more particularly described in the Second Schedule to the said Act. The construction and purchase of a dredge and the construction and performance of the works or any of them authorised by Section 9 of “The Foxton Harbour Board Amendment Act, 1917.” The sum proposed to he borrowed for such purposes is £16,060, and the rate of interest is .{*s} per centum per annum. The security proposed to be pledged for such special loan is an annually recurring differential special rate on the capital value ol all rateable properly within the following areas comprising the Foxton Harbour District of the fractional part of a penny in the pound sterling set opposite (he name of each of such areas respectively, viz.— Manawatu County .. 3/801 hs. Kairanga County .. l/80th. Palmerston Northßorough 3/100ths Feilding Borough .. 3/200ths. Levin Borough .. .. 1/-K!th. Foxton Borough .. .. 21/801 hs. The provision for the repayment of (he said loan will be: — ■ An annua! sinking fund of £1 per centum on (lie amount of such loan, and the balance of the said loan which has not been provided for by such sinking fund at Hie maturity of the said loan which will have a currency of 3(5 years, will be provided by a fresh special loan, or as the Foxton Harbour Board may at such maturity decide. It is proposed to pay out of Hie loan Hie cost of raising the loan and the interest: and sinking fund for the first year. It is the intention of the Foxlon Harbour Board under and in pursuance of Section 21 of “The Local Bodies Loans Act, .1.9.13,” to pay the interest and sinking fund out of the general fund of the Board so far as the same may be available for that purpose in any particular year.
