DEATH OF KING OF TONGA.

Auckland, Yesterday. News was received last night that King George Tubau 11, of Tonga died of tuberculosis at his island home on oth April. He was buried in state on the following Wednesday. The king was 44 years of age, and had been ailing for some time. Death came suddenly as the king was rising from his bed. The king’s daughter, Princess Salote, or Charlotte, was proclaimed queen on Gth April. The new queen was the only daughter of the late king’s first wife, and is about 184 years' of age. She was educatad at the Diocesan School, Auckland. Queen Salote married the prince-consort, William Tugi, a few months ago. Tugi was present at the coronation of King George Y. of England, as representative of Tonga, and the ceremony had a great impression upon his mind. ■
