HEAVY EXPORTS FOR 1917.
The Prime Minister (Mr W. F. Massey) announced at the Chamber of Commerce meeting at Wellington that the value of exports for tho year 1917 reached a total of £31,596,434, and imports were valued at £20,600,000. The exports were as follow; Wool, 178,274,4861 b., £12,175,366; meat, 2,460,230 cwt., £6,119,747; cheese, 885,742 cwt., £3,949,227; butter, 254,398 cwt., £2,031,575; sheepskins, £1,287,527; hemp, 23,516 tons, £1,197,396; other products, £4,835,596. Total, £31,596,434. The value of goods shipped from New Zealand on account of the Imperial Government for the first three months of 1918 was over £11,000,000.
