SOLDIERS SENTENCED.
FIVE GET TWO YEARS’ HARD LABOUR. In Tronthani Cam)) orders it is announced that five soldiers having been convicted by District CourtMartial on charges of “disobeying in such a manner as to slioav a Avilful defiance of authority, a laAvfu! command given personally by his superior officer, in the execution of his office,” .have each been sentenced to imprisonment Avith hard labour for two years. The names of the men so sentenced are as under: 75704 PriA'ale W. J. Read, Details, Trontluim Camp. 57430 Private. H. Adin, A.S.C. 57435 Private J. M’Kenzie, A.S.C. 57414 Private J. Move, A.S.C. 75318 PriA’ale E. S. Cochrane, Details, Trent ham Camp. . Another soldier, convicted of a similar offence, has been sentenced to 112 days’ detention. The sentence in his case, however, has been mitigated so that if the accused shall embark for active service outside New Zealand, then, on arrival at the port of disembarkation, the nnexpired portion, if any, of his sentence shall be remitted, and, his New Zealand records shall he endorsed accordingly.
